Customer Review: Flimsy Parts

The lid on the carafe of this machine broke on us after only eight months. Compare this to cheaper machines we previously had for years. A new carafe is $60 - more than most run of the mill machines which will last longer (and more than the Consumer Reports recommended Best Buy, which is Black and Decker).
Will not purchase Saeco again. Rip off.

With its sleek look and durable steel-body construction, this 40oz (8-Cup) coffeemaker provides an array of convenient features. The unit brews coffee directly into its 40-ounce stainless-steel and carbon fiber carafe by way of the specially designed carafe lid, effectively sealing in the heat and ensuring optimal flavor. In addition, the carafe is thermal insulated, providing five hours of heat retention without the concern of burnt-tasting coffee. Other highlights include a convenient top-filling water tank and top-loading filter basket and a blue power indicator light. For safety, the coffeemaker shuts off automatically when brewing is complete, and its cord stores neatly for tidy countertops.
